The hills are alive

with the sound of thrifting. On this week’s sneaky mid—week trip down to London with Himself I hit a few charity shops on Goodge Street where I found a pair of embroidered curtains

and a never-worn length of sari material

(original price tags and labels still on it)

at the YMCA shop. I’ve got that ‘thing’ about wearing other people’s clothes but was comfortable enough to get this stuff (spending a mere four and three quid respectively) since nobody has worn them. The pink fabric goes right in the summer fabric box but the curtains are going to sit out so I can have a think.

This Italian wool skirt (a ‘P’, which I take to mean petite since it looks like a USA size 6) was only 2 GBP at a cool clothes swap store on Goodge Street not far from where it meets Tottenham Court Road. Bang Bang’s men’s stuff is at the Berwick Street shop and seems to be lower prices – not that I’d get Himself to wear anything used – but there were some things I liked too. I was only travelling with carry-on and already had the above articles so perhaps I will pop back when we are down there together next weekend.

The skirt could become a handbag — maybe a waistcoat since that wouldn’t be next to my skin – but the ol’ wrists are still sore (today I blame the pressure systems passing through Fife) so I’ll just look through my patterns and notes for things I could use with the YMCA finds.
